Guiana Species Database

The aim of this database is to gather the majority of data about tree species of Guiana and make them available for researchers, according to strict quality criteria. References can be found for all data presented.

Data can be searched by species (use the forms) or topic: use the links below.

Species

• Search a taxon by its name, or a vernacular name.

A species can be found through its family or its genus.

Conventions: sp. Conventions : sp. indicates an undetermined species in its genus, spp. indicates more than one species.

• Fundamentals: botany, sites, references.

Traits

• Structured data for multivariate analysis of plant traits. This section is partially restricted to authenticated users: only published data are available for anonymous users.

Ecophysiology

Nitrogen

• Values of d15N and nitrogen concentration in leaves, detailed by field site (Roggy and Prévost, 1999; Roggy et al., 1999a; Roggy et al., 1999b).

Carbon

• Values of d13C and carbon content of leaves , detailed by field site (Bonal et al.,2000).

Photosynthesis

• Photosynthetic traits measured in glass house (Coste 2002; 2005).

Wood

• Wood density at 12% moisture.
• Wood durability: impregnability, resistance to termites and funghi, and overall durability. Wood aspect (with pictures).
• Tension wood: characteristics of tension wood (Ruelle, 2002 and Ruelle, 2003).

Soil-Vegetation relations

• Collinet (1997) : edaphic preferences of 35 species complexes in the site of Paracou.
• Paget (1999) : edaphic preferences compared between Saint-Élie and Crique Plomb sites.
• Sabatier (1997) : edaphic preferences in the site of Saint-Élie.
